Hiking around Ballenstedt

In and around Ballenstedt you can find eight hiking tours. The tours have different lengths and level of difficulty so that everybody can find its perfect tour. Please let us know, if you need any material. We would be pleased to help you.

 

 

The "Brocken"

The "Brocken" is the highest mountain of the northern part of Germany. Its height is about 1142m and you can find there a very alpine climate up the mountain. Depending on your physical condition and the weather, there exist different possibilities to get up there:

- You can use the regular transportation, the "Harzer Schmalspurbahn"

- You can use the "Quedlingburger Brocken-Express:


On the 25th May, 28th July, 25th August, 13th October: At this times you can use the "Harzer Schmalspurbahn" directly from Quedlinburg. After a short stop on the mountain, you get back to Wernigerode, where you can book a city tour. After the tour you go back to Quedlingburg by train.

The "Selkestieg"

Since August 2006 there has been a hiking tour that is called "Selkestieg". This tour is about 67km and starts in the small village "Stiege" and ends in "Quedlingburg", the World Heritage Site. This very imposing tour leads you through the untapped nature and some historical places (e.g. Alexisbad, Mägdesprung, Castle Falkenstein, Ballenstedt).




Golf

Between Ballenstedt and Meisdorf, a little city located nearby, you can find the golf course of the golf club "Schloss Meisdorf. (Further information at: www.golfclub-schloss-meisdorf.de).
